The Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress and Zazzle are teaming up in a new publishing partnership to make an unprecedented number of photographs and prints available to the public for the first time. With over 128 million items, the Library of Congress is the largest collection of recorded knowledge in the world, an unparalleled resource for United States and world history. This partnership helps the Library better fulfill its mission to make its resources available to the American people. Be sure to check the homepage often as new images will be added on a continual basis.
This is the second division from the Library of Congress to sign up with Zazzle. The first collection, the Geography and Map Division, launched earlier this year.
Royalties from sales of these images directly benefit the Library, supporting its acquisition of new materials and the preservation of its collections. The partnership will also allow the Library to better serve the American public, with the additional income easing the Library’s reliance on taxpayer dollars.
The Prints and Photographs Division becomes Zazzle’s largest Special Collections gallery with over 6,300 images and 12,600 products. Other collections include The Walt Disney Company, The Boston Public Library, The California State Library, The Hoover Institution, and The Bancroft Library.
