Zazzle seller, Andrew Resor (ResorRides) just finished a bike ride from St. Augustine, Florida to San Diego, California (2,989 miles) in support of the charity Bikes Not Bombs. To help make money for the charity, Andrew opened a Zazzle store to sell merchandise and donate all the proceeds. He also took donations through his website, ResorRides.com. While on the road, biking for 8+ hours a day, Andrew was a lean-mean charity billboard with awesome performance t-shirts from Zazzle featuring his store URL on the front and back. We’re impressed with Andrew’s accomplishments and proud that he chose Zazzle as part of his charitable event. We asked Andrew to give us a little summary of his ride. Here’s what he said:
“I guess doing something like this really allows you to step back and go over what’s really important in life. I realized that it is easily possible to survive with 40lbs of gear and food, but also enjoy it as well. Before I left I thought I’d miss certain things. Maybe my car, a computer, a microwave, etc.
The only things I really missed were my family, friends, and a bed I could spread out on.
Flying somewhere is one thing and taking a road trip is another. With each of those you get a glimpse into what life is like, but it’s still only a small glimpse.
When you travel by bicycle, especially alone, you really get to experience what’s in between point A and B. Rolling down the road at 12mph with frequent stops afforded me the opportunity to meet and see what everyone else misses.
This country unbelievably diverse, beautiful, interesting, exciting, sometimes frightening and more than anything else, HUGE.”
