Prost! This is the last week of Germany’s Oktoberfest. Typically the festival is celebrated with lots of eating, drinking and general German merriment. At Zazzle, we celebrated with the launch of our German site, Zazzle.de! If you’re planning on celebrating for the last week of Oktoberfest be sure you’re prepared for the occasion with Oktoberfest t-shirts, Oktoberfest bags, and Oktoberfest steins from Zazzle. Check out some of my favorite Oktoberfest gifts below.
Check out the PayPal email below featuring Zazzle’s Director of Product Management Mike T! Unbeknown to us, Mike has a side gig as Chief Model for the Scandinavian Modeling Agency of America (SMAA for short) – this is his main look called light blue steel.
Seriously though, we love PayPal! PayPal is a great way to make purchases on Zazzle, or process Seller earnings quickly (wayyyy faster than a check). Be sure to check out the PayPal X Innovate November 3-4 to learn more about how you can use PayPal as a platform.
Check out this week’s Foto Friday Fun!

Vlad Gerasimov, aka vladstudio, has been a Zazzler since 2004. He was kind enough to answer some questions about his artwork, and his time with Zazzle. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out his store Vladstudio!
Zazzle: First off, tell us a little bit about yourself.
Vlad: I was born and have always lived in Irkutsk, Russia. It is located near lake Baikal, the deepest lake in the world by the way. I received economical education, but never spent a minute working as an economist! I also play piano and guitar.
My typical day may seem not so interesting. I spend most of day at home, sitting with my MacBook Pro (because I am a home-based worker). I reply to e-mails of my website visitors and clients, maintain and improve my website, and of course, I always draw something in Photoshop.
Zazzle: What’s your inspiration for your designs?
Vlad: I am inspired by many very different things, such as beauty of nature, interesting objects and ideas that I stumble upon in Internet or in real life, works of other artists. In the past, I spent a lot of time making software icons, and therefore my art inherited some of icon design principles – clear lines and details, pseudo-3D.
Zazzle: What has been your favorite design you’ve created, and why?
Vlad: Every artwork is as a child, you know
. I think the most special for me are:
• Learning to Fly – http://www.zazzle.com/learning_to_fly_poster-228241061925473627 – don’t know why, but it resonates with me
• Planet Earth – Inversed – http://www.zazzle.com/world_inversed_poster-228598349567979121 – that’s my most popular artwork ever
Zazzle: What is your favorite Zazzle feature? How do you use it?
Vlad: My favorite page on Zazzle website is, of course, “Earnings Summary”
Speaking seriously, I like how buyers of my products can customize them.
Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?
Vlad: Variety of available products. The only type of product I am missing is Jigsaw Puzzles! My artworks would be so great as puzzles.
Zazzle: What tips can you give someone who is just starting out on Zazzle?
Vlad: – give your visitors choice. Whenever you create a work of art (or a photo), make as many different products out of it as Zazzle offers. For me, posters, mousepads and t-shirts are best-selling product types;
- integrate Zazzle to your website;
- carefully resize your image for different products (f.e. for a mug and a poster you will need to crop differently, make sure nothing important is lost after cropping).
Thanks Vlad!
Since launching the new www.Zazzle.de website on Friday, we’ve been flooded with overwhelmingly positive comments. However, we’ve received a few comments from some of our German Zazzlers about some spots where we made some small errors in our German translations.
We want you to know that we take all of this feedback very seriously, and we’ve punished the person responsible accordingly.
See below for a picture of Lamson’s ankle. That’s right! We went Kathy Bates on him!
No, just kidding! We love Lamson, and we think his German translation skills are something even David Hasselhoff would be proud of.
He messed up his ankle this weekend pretty bad, though, while out celebrating the launch. Poor guy.
We’d tell you the real truth of how he broke it, but it’s so pathetic we just can’t stand to embarrass Lamson that way. Free Zazzle.de hat for the person that posts to the comments correctly with how Lamson really messed up his ankle. (Trust us, it’s really pathetic.)
The creator of “Office Space,” “Beavis and Butt-Head,” and “King of the Hill” has returned with another masochistic comedy, “Extract” which opened in theaters on September 4.
Joel, played by Jason Bateman (“Juno,” “Arrested Development”), is one step away from selling his flavor extract factory and retiring to easy street when a freak workplace accident sets in motion a series of disasters that put his business and personal life in jeopardy. The film also stars Kristen Wiig (SNL, “Ghost Town”), Mila Kunis (“Forgetting Sarah Marshall”), and Ben Affleck (“He’s Just Not That Into You”).
In typical Mike Judge form, the film is brimming with witty one liners, and the creators of the film found it befitting that fans of the film be able to purchase products memorializing their favorite moments.

Bleibt einfach dran!
In case your German skills are rusty, the above paragraph says that we have now launched www.Zazzle.de, our German-language site. While we are working on a few more little tweaks over the next few days and weeks, we are already offering the largest selection of designs in the German market. Stay tuned for more exciting things to come to Germany! Prost!
Here is a video of some Zazzlers singing a traditional German drinking song in honor of the launch of Zazzle.de and Oktoberfest!
There are more new products?! We thought that photo cards and invitations were a bit lonely so we added custom stationery, custom letterhead, rack cards, and flyers today! These newest of the new products round out our paper product offering to a complete set, perfect for home or office. So spend the weekend sitting at the computer shopping great wedding stationery, thank you stationery, business letterhead and more! Some of my favorites (just created!) of these new products are below.
