Design the Zazzle Holiday Party Invitations!

by

Due to the overwhelming success that our iPad Case Design Contest is having, we have decided to create another contest on Facebook for all of our amazing artists! For those of you without Facebook accounts, we apologize but we have found that this is an amazing way for Zazzle artists to promote their work and show off their talent!

At Zazzle, we’ve been working so hard to make everyone’s holiday season merry, what with our new iPhone cases, custom necklaces, ornaments and so many other products, that we haven’t had time to celebrate ourselves! We will be holding our Annual Holiday Party in January after all the craziness is over and are inviting you to design the invitations that will get sent out to hundreds of Zazzle employees!

To enter this contest, create or use a SQUARE invitation design (all other types will appear warped in the contest image) and enter your submission at http://apps.facebook.com/zazzleparty! Then get all your friends and family members to vote for your design.  Each person can vote once per day so tell them to come back often! The top 10 will become finalists and the Grand Prize Winner will be selected by a panel of Zazzle judges.  Entries will be accepted through 11:59 PM PST on January 3, 2011. The Winner will have 300 of their winning invitations ordered by Zazzle and receive the royalty as well as be featured in the Zazzle Blog and the Zazzle Facebook Fan Page!

Good luck and we can’t wait to see your designs! Click here to view the Contest Rules and Regulations.

I love the idea but I have a question. Is this contest also opened to those who are outside of the USA?

  6. Kathy Says:

Really disappointed that the contests are now going to be through Facebook. I’m not comfortable asking friends and family to hack votes for me, especially when many of my Facebook friends have Z shops themselves. Oh well. I used to enjoy these contests, but the Facebook interface has ended it for me. :(

I can get into this!!!! I’m entering.

“Then get all your friends and family members to vote for your design.” Well what the heck? This makes it a popularity contest, not a design contest. I only have a handful of friends on Facebook, so how I can compete? Please go back to the old style of contest where Zazzle employees judged the entries and it was a level playing field. There’s no way to win this unless you have a lot of friends on FB. Guess I’ll have to pass on this one.

To add to to Kathy’s comment -

I too feel that deciding the winner by means of Facebook votes is not fair, for more then one reason.

It is obvious that someone with a lot of Facebook friends will end up getting a lot of votes. This, however, does not mean that the best design will win, as people will vote for their friends based on their friendship, regardless of the actual quality or originality of the design.

But aside from that, the voting process is poorly designed too. While people can see the entries, a click to vote takes them to another page, from which they then have to return to see other designs. That is to much trouble, and people give up after a page or two of designs. So again, only those people with a lot of friends will get votes, as those designs are listed first.

Finally, I do not feel comfortable asking all of my friends to vote every day. I already hype my store via Facebook, and I think after a while people just tune out.

I love the contests, but I think the winners should not be determined by how many votes they get by current means. The idea is flawed, and I sincerely hope that someone at Zazzle will actually read this and take these points under consideration.

Good luck to everyone either way and Happy Holidays to all.
