Red Fairy Dragon Card

Zazzle: Give us a brief bio, where you’re from and when you started making art.

Molly: Creating art is my true passion.  I am always painting, drawing, or making crafty things.  It has been a part of my life as long as I can remember.  I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and grew up on the northern California coast in a small town called Mendocino.  I have a BA in Illustration Design and I now reside in the northern California valley with my husband and two children.  I began selling my art in 2003 and now have a wonderful fan base which is steadily growing.  My work can be found in private collections worldwide.

Zazzle: How would you describe your style?

Molly: This is tough for me because I don’t just have one style.  I would say predominantly a whimsical style with touches of realism and touches of impressionism.

Zazzle: Your art seems to be primarily fantasy illustrations, when did you start doing fantasy art? Are there other styles and mediums you enjoy as well?

Molly: Fantasy art is in my heart and soul.  I am not sure what draws me to it, but it has always been the case, since I was very small.  I use mainly watercolor and ink which can be loose and free or tight and precise. Some of my work is in acrylic.  I try to use color and atmosphere to give an overall feeling of a piece.  Some of my work is light and some is dark.

Zazzle: When you’re not creating art, what are your other hobbies?

Molly: I love music as well as art and I am often playing my keyboard to relax.  I am a full time wife and mother as well, with two minor children, so my life is very full!  I love camping, walking outdoors, playing with my pets (5 cats and a dog!) and reading.

Zazzle: What’s your favorite Zazzle product to create??

Molly: I love Zazzle’s greeting cards and calendars!  They are top quality and are fun to create.

2011 Mermaid Calendar

Zazzle: What’s your favorite Zazzle feature? How do you use it?

Molly: I don’t know that I have one single favorite feature, but I love many things about Zazzle, one is how easy it is to use.  I also like how people can customize products.

Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?

Molly: I can’t exactly remember, but I think I was looking for a way to create calendars because I didn’t have a publisher yet and I had a lot of customers requesting them.

Zazzle: What tips can you give someone who is just starting out on Zazzle?

Molly: I would say to anyone starting off at Zazzle, to create as many products as possible.  The more the merrier!    Also, make sure to create on a regular basis, and make sure your store is easy to use, organized, and visibly easy on the eyes.  Keep up with the holidays and change your featured products and top picks around accordingly. One very important thing to remember is to use appropriate key words.  I have found this to be critical.   Also link to your Zazzle store from as many places as possible to get your customers familiar with your store (i.e. Facebook, website, ect.)

Thanks Molly
