Stacy, from the Zazzle store rdwnggrl, talks to us about her hobbies, her inspirations and her time as a Zazzler. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out her store rdwnggrl!
Bio: My name is Stacy; I’m married and the mom of one amazing son. I’m a Washington State native, but moved to Colorado over 3 years ago. I feel blessed to be able to do the things I love to do with the support of my family and close friends.
Zazzle: What’s your inspiration for your designs?
Stacy: For me, inspiration comes from my everyday life. My family, friends, and surroundings definitely give me plenty of ideas to work with. Living in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, there is no shortage of beautiful nature to see and take in – or to photograph. When not behind a camera, I’m on the computer creating text designs or digital art designs that come from ideas in my head, based on things my family and friends say or things going on in the world we live in (and life in general).
Zazzle: When and how did you first become interested in art? How long have you been making art?
Stacy: Since I was a young girl, I have loved to do arts and crafts. From drawing and painting to the childhood rite of passage of macaroni art, I was always doing something. Throughout my junior high and high school years I took many art, graphic art, and photography classes that allowed me to continue learning the things I love.
Zazzle: When you’re not creating art, what are your other hobbies?
Stacy: Family, music, and sports are the 3 things, besides art, that occupy my time when I’m not working. Besides working on Zazzle, I also work part time in a medical office and I help run our family BBQ business, so I definitely keep busy. But my family is my number one priority, so spending time with them is what I enjoy most. Music is an important part of my life. I can’t play or sing, but there is music on around me as often as I can get it. Also sports – I watch as much hockey, football, and baseball as I can!
Zazzle: What’s your favorite medium to use?
Stacy: It really depends on my mood. I go through phases where I’m all about photography. Other times I can’t seem to stay away from paper, pen, or computer programs.
Zazzle: What is your favorite Zazzle feature? How do you use it?
Stacy: I like the “Link” option for the products. It gives us different abilities for linking our (or others) products into blogs and emails. I like to do promotional blogs for myself and for my friends and fellow Zazzlers, and the “Link” option makes it easy to grab the products and get the job done!
Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?
Stacy: I was involved in a t-shirt design project with some friends to create shirts for fans of our favorite band. It was an interesting and fun process and I wanted to continue to create things on my own, once the project was done. I searched Google for sites that would allow me to do this. I came upon Zazzle and was instantly hooked. That was June of 2006 and here I am, still working hard to please myself and potential customers artistically.
Zazzle: What tips can you give someone who is just starting out on Zazzle?
Stacy: My first piece of advice would be to stick with it. I think a lot of people go into Zazzle thinking they will see instant sales and they get disappointed when they don’t. Yes, sales will come here and there without working for them, but to really see a difference sellers need to keep new designs/products coming into their shops, along with promoting their products through blogs, Facebook, Twitter, personal newsletters, and so on.
Thanks Stacy!
