Seller Wednesday – Doodle Speakers for Father’s Day

May 18, 2011

If you haven’t heard, we’ve got the world’s first customizable speaker launching in 2 days and some odd hours (maybe sooner ;)) – which, is just in time for Father’s Day.  From fathers that are tech savvy, to fathers that are on the go, the Doodle speaker is a great (and portable) way to bring music wherever. To make sure your store is ready to sell Father’s Day Doodle Speakers as soon as they launch, start creating designs that are perfect for Father’s now!  We suggest photo template designs, World’s Best Dad designs, #1 Dad designs, or just something a dad would love (fishing lure or golf speaker designs could be very popular). Grab the BETA guild file for speakers here and get started designing now!

Once speakers launch, be sure to share your Father’s Day designs here in the comments.

The 2011 Zazzle Bay to Breakers Rundown

May 16, 2011

A day later and the glow of Bay to Breakers is still warm in the memory of Zazzlers and San Franciscans alike. But what was it all about? What made this year so special for the hundreds of thousands of people around the world? For Zazzle, our first year as the title sponsor of Bay to Breakers was about sharing our wackiness and creativity with San Francisco’s wackiness and creativity for a weeklong celebration that culminated with the running of the 100th Zazzle Bay to Breakers. For those who didn’t get to see the events in person, read on and learn the glory of Bay to Breakers. For those who attended, read on for a quick trip down short-term memory lane.

ZOMG
ZOMG consisted of San Francisco night and day events each day of race week. From 20s Night on Monday at venues like Matrix Fillmore to Future Night at Public SF, it was our way of saying, “let’s celebrate 100 years!” The parties were a great way for Bay Area fans of the race to come together and have a good time before the race (maybe some even shared costume ideas?) and after the race. Thanks to all the featured venues that participated in ZOMG. A few choice shots from the nights are below but many more are on our Facebook page.

Greater Body Expo
The Greater Body Expo was a chance for people to meet Zazzle staffers and get their hands on exclusive Zazzle Bay to Breakers merchandise while hanging out in the Zazzle lounge/store. For two days, the store was PACKED with fans buying gear and making custom iPhone 4 cases onsite. Some great pictures below but there are many more on our Facebook page.

Sunday, The 100th Zazzle Bay to Breakers
The actual running of the 100th Zazzle Bay to Breakers was a sea of people. Some ran with serious gear (including official Bay to Breakers Nike gear from Zazzle), many ran in clever costumes, and a few ran in birthday suits. It was a 12K celebration of creativity. Along the way intrepid Zazzlers encouraged people to do the right thing and use the port-o-potties by giving out insanely popular Potty Hero wristbands. Thousands of people became Potty Heroes and a new San Francisco tradition was born. At the end of the race, Zazzle Footstock was the place to see amazing bands (Geographer, Loquat, Boca de Rio, and Teatro ZinZanni), get BLASTED by the Zazzle t-shirt cannon, or enter the costume contest. Footstock was the perfect close to a beautiful sunny day in San Francisco and 100 years of Bay Area tradition. Check out the pictures below and of course we’ve added many more to Facebook.

Thank you San Francisco for making this year so great! We look forward to running the 2012 Zazzle Bay to Breakers with everyone next year! Be sure to commemorate this year in style with Zazzle Bay to Breakers gear in the official online Bay to Breakers store!

Zazzle Bay to Breakers Recap (quick version)

May 15, 2011

How do you recap a event like the 100th Zazzle Bay to Breakers? What words express the uniqueness, creativity, and shear awesomeness of this San Francisco tradition? Maybe I should just make a few up…. While I think about that for a much longer post (ZOMG Week/The Greater Body Expo/Zazzle Bay to Breakers/Zazzle Footstock), I thought I’d share some quick thoughts and pictures from today. Video, audio, and more pictures to come soon.

The Weather
Fear of rain may have kept a few people away from the race. But it was a perfect day for a wild and wacky footrace and the SF crowds were out in full force.

The Race/The People
San Francisco once again proved itself to be a fun, friendly, creative, and happy place with the 100th. Look at all those people and costumes. Special thanks to the “People Wash,” for helping keep this blogger fresh and clean. So awesome.

Potty Hero Power!
Zazzle passed out thousands of Potty Hero wristbands to racers and revelers to encourage the use of port-o-potties on race day instead of…something else. Thanks to all the heroes out there that helped to keep the race as clean, as it was fun.

After the Race at Zazzle Footstock
Zazzle Footstock was the after race stop for great music (Geographer killed it), official Zazzle Bay to Breaker merchandise, and the Zazzle Costume Contest. Congrats to Techno Man and the Royal Wedding for their costume wins. Also, nobody could forget the Zazzle T-Shirt Cannon. Did you get blasted by the Zazzle Cannon?

How many times did I use awesome in the post? I’ll probably use it many more times tomorrow. Thank you San Francisco for joining Zazzle in 100 years of celebration! What’s your 2011 Zazzle Bay to Breakers story? Share it in the comments!
