Franco, from the Zazzle store FrancoBrambilla, talks to us about his inspirations and his time at Zazzle. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out his store FrancoBrambilla!

Zazzle: First off, tell us little bit about yourself.
Franco: I’m 44, and I live in Milano, Italy. I have been an illustrator for the last 20 years, and I specialize in sci-fi artworks for book covers. Since 1998 I have been the main illustrator for an Italian sci-fi book collection called URANIA, where I have been doing 2 – 3 covers a month. In 2007 I started the “Invading the Vintage” project, which, are postcards of cute aliens invading, and also vintage TV and sci-fi movies. I mainly work for book publishers, but my illustrations have also been in Vice, Wired USA, Rolling Stone and New Scientist. I share a studio with my friends who are an art director, a graphic designer and illustrator like me.
Zazzle: When you’re not creating art, what are your other hobbies?
Franco: I used to travel and build customized model kits of spaceships and robots, but now that I became father of two little kids I spend all my free time with them.
Zazzle: How would you describe your style?
Franco: “Realistic surrealism”
Zazzle: What’s your favorite medium to use?
Franco: Digital. I’ve worked all my professional life with computers – 3d programs, Photoshop, and Painter

Zazzle: What’s your favorite Zazzle product to create?
Franco: I really love to do postcards and calendars with the “Invading the Vintage” artwork. I just took down the calendars I made for 2011 that where quite successful – got to get the 2012 calendars ready.
Zazzle: Do you have any fun stories about being a seller on Zazzle?
Franco: Once, I decorated a pair of Zazzle shoes with my “Invading the Vintage” illustrations thinking “this is something no one will ever buy”, and I sold a pair that day! Everyone at my studio was so surprised and happy. With Zazzle you never know.
Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?
Franco: I was invited to join Zazzle, actually. I love Zazzle, because there are hundreds of possibilities, and you have freedom to create amazing products. I like to buy sample copies of my products – looking back, I realize I have never been disappointed by the quality… it has always been amazing.
Zazzle: What tips can you give someone who is just starting out on Zazzle?
Franco: Organize your store and think of unusual ways to use your artworks with all of Zazzle’s products… just experiment. Also, find ways to let people know you have your artworks on Zazzle (Facebook, Flickr, blogs, etc.)
Thanks Franco!
