Iowa did it again. This past weekend’s Ames Straw Poll helped to narrow the field of Republican hopefuls by cutting Tim Pawlenty (and probably Rick Santorum) and bringing Michele Bachmann and Ron Paul into the spotlight. But, the big story of the weekend wasn’t Ames; it was Rick Perry’s announcement for the presidency. Why does Rick Perry trump Bachmann and Paul? How do I know these things? See below and learn young political grasshopper…
The above chart is political searches on Zazzle for the first two weeks of August. Perennial favorite Ron Paul dominates searches and shopping on Zazzle while Palin and Bachmann share smaller portions of the pie. Rick Perry is in there, but nothing compared to what he is now…
Look at Rick Perry go! By announcing his candidacy he DOMINATED the other candidates on Zazzle, taking half of the political searches. Palin and Paul were the biggest losers from Perry’s announcement, while Bachmann picked up a little steam. Judging by the interest around Perry right now, Palin might want to consider getting in the race soon or be left in the election dust. It will be interesting to see what happens with Rick Perry’s popularity over the next couple of weeks/months, but right now he’s the clear favorite according to how Republican voters are searching/shopping on Zazzle.

Well, Rick Perry wanted Texas to secede from the United States not too long ago. That doesn’t sound like Presidential material to me. Maybe I will make a shirt that says that!

This is flat out scary. I wish Texas did secede from the US. Nothing good comes out of Texas.

Interstates 20 comes out of Texas. That’s something good Terry.

I can’t believe anybody would paint a whole state, all of it’s people, all of it’s industry, bad. Texas is a shining example of everything that’s good about America. Try not to be such a hater. Besides. I was born in Dallas. That pretty much proves good stuff happens in Texas.
