Samantha, from the Zazzle store SincerelySam, talks with us about her artistic ambitions for philanthropy as well as her aspirations as a new Zazzler. Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out her store SincerelySam.
Zazzle: Hi Samantha, tell us a bit about yourself.
Samantha: I am an art major at Western Washington University with big dreams and even bigger passion! I love making people smile with my art; especially my sister. She is autistic and my whole world- so one day I hope to raise awareness for autism research with my art. Perhaps I’ll do this through fundraisers, drawings, events – who knows! All I know is that autism is an important topic many people know very little about and I want to do my part to help raise funds for research.
Zazzle: How did you become interested in art?
Samantha: I have been drawing since I could pick up a pencil. My poor grade school teachers could never keep enough paper in their classrooms.
Zazzle: What’s your favorite medium to use?
Samantha: My favorite medium is colored pencils, which I feel reflects the playful child-like feeling of my art. However lately I have been dabbling in watercolor.
Zazzle: How would you describe your style?
Samantha: Hmmm… I’d say my work exhibits a dash of realism with an overdose of spontaneity!
Zazzle: Any artists you look up to when it comes to designing?
Samantha: The Art Nouveau movement in the early 1900′s really inspired my style; though I cannot say any one particular person greatly influenced me. I just really enjoyed the nature elements, fluid movements, and interesting colors used in art during that time period.
Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?
Samantha: Actually a friend told me about Zazzle. He had lurked around on the site for a long time and was shocked that I hadn’t heard of it yet! He proudly showed me a physics shirt he purchased and then the rest was history – I signed up that day and uploaded my art that night.
Zazzle: Being a newer seller on Zazzle, what are you most looking forward to?
Samantha: I am looking forward to exploring a whole new venue of customizable art – making usable works rather than just paintings on a wall.
Zazzle: Can you give us a sneak peek of future designs?
Samantha: Oh yes! Here are some small snippets of works in progress, actually:
Zazzle: Thanks for sharing Samantha and good luck!
