The start of the Olympics brings out the competitive side in many of us and Zazzle Team is no different. There’s been a bit of “flag waving” around the office and instead of having Greco-Roman wrestling matches to decide victors (HR said no…) we did the next best thing – an international food competition! Zazzle Team members brought in their favorite of favorite dishes to be judged by the staff and ultimately voted the “gold” dish. The winning dish was Mustafa’s “Maklooba.” Here’s a brief description his delectable creation:
The Winner

Maklooba in Arabic means “upside-down” and it’s referring to how the dish is served. The whole pot is flipped upside-down on a tray to make it more presentable. The main ingredients are rice cooked half way in tomato sauce, chicken, peas, potatoes, eggplants, bell pepper, onions and tomatoes. All the vegetables sliced, fried half way, stacked at the bottom of the pot in layers followed by a layer of chicken and finally topped with the half cooked rice. The whole pot left to simmer in chicken stock and some extra virgin olive oil.

hmm miam miam! It made me hungry! You have very cool events with the Zazzle team, it might be awesome to work there. I’d like to know if someone made a Brazilian dish? I have never tasted Maklooba but arabic foods are delicious in general, believe it or not, the best nuggets I had in my life I ate in Morocco

Thanks for the pics. I’m salivating on my keyboard. As for favorite dish, how can one even decide. I personally love German foods such as Sauerbraten and Potato Dumplings swimming in the red wine seasoned brown gravy. But what I see here looks awesome too. I’ll take a sample please.
