The Zazzle Blog creeps across the site…

May 1, 2007

It’s been nearly two months since the revamp of the Zazzle Blog and we know that you can’t get enough of the updates/news/stories/info being shared on it. Many of you already check the blog daily, but for those of you who suffer from extreme laziness, we’ve made it a little easier to tell if something new has been added to the blog since you last checked. Take a look at the bottom of the Zazzle homepage or the main MyZazzle page and you will notice a pod (screenshot below). Thanks to the wonders of RSS, this pod includes links to the three most recent blog posts. Enjoy!

Spoil Mom Crazy this Mother’s Day

April 27, 2007

The first Zazzle Contest (This Earth Day … Save the World!) wrapped up earlier this week and we were thrilled with the submitted designs. We wanted to get a second contest going ASAP so without any further ado, check out the Spoil Mom Crazy this Mother’s Day contest and submit a design! Since we’re talking about mom here, we knew that we needed to make the prize awesome. The winner will receive:

  • $1,000.00 USD – COLD HARD CASH: whatever you want to do with it (we suggest giving her a whole weekend at the spa… or a night on the town with limo transportation)
  • Spoil Me Spa Tower: ala 1-800 FLOWERS ($159.99 value)… from chocolate truffles to green tea bath salts, this thing is off the hook!
  • Top-of-the-Line Framed Print: You can go bonkers using our media and framing options to create a family portrait that will last for generations to come. Do whatever you want for options, all the way up to $500. We suggest using a family photo, the Gloss Canvas UV media (it’s archival quality, meaning there’s literally no degradation after 100 years), and framing/matting options galore.

“Today’s Best” gets… better!

April 6, 2007

For a long time now, we’ve been selecting products from the marketplace to be showcased on the homepage in Today’s Best. The process for selecting these products is somewhat magical but I can say that it’s strongly dependent on community activity (# of views, sales, favorites, comments, etc).

Today’s Best ArchiveStarting today, we have a new email alert based off of Today’s Best! Whenever one of your products is added to the list, you’ll be immediately notified so that you can notify your friends and fans of your newfound supremacy! In addition, we have also created a Today’s Best Archive that showcases all of the products that have ever received this prestigious designation.

We’re tremendously excited by the increasing number of products being contributed and we want to leverage the community’s recommendations as much as possible to spotlight the best designs. Stay tuned for many more features and updates related to how products are featured on Zazzle.

49 great galleries … all different!

March 20, 2007

As can be expected, those of us here at Zazzle HQ spend quite a bit of time browsing Zazzle throughout the day. I’ve had the great joy of discovering many hundreds of great artists and galleries on the site and I wanted to give a quick shout out to some of the cooler galleries I’ve come across. This list is definitely not comprehensive and please feel free to share your own favorites in the comments below.

49 Contributor Galleries

Here are 16 of the contributors included above. The additional 33 contributors will be listed in two future blog posts.

These contributors represent such diverse locations as

  • Montevideo, Uruguay
  • NYC
  • IL
  • Atlanta, GA
  • CT
  • Sweden
  • Cuernevaca, Mexico
  • Bellevue, WA
  • Foix, France
  • Virginia

We shifted to the new gallery framework in July 2006 and it’s been an exciting last eight months. The primary goal of the new gallery framework was to help contributor’s unleash their creativity and make an experience that reflects their unique style and artistic talent. We wanted the framework to be more flexible since everyone has their own preferences for style and design. We’ve been absolutely blown away with what you guys have created!

There are more changes to the gallery framework on the way and all feedback is much appreciated. Please keep the suggestions coming!
