How is it almost 2015 already? Seems like just yesterday we were ringing in 2014 all bright eyed and bushy tailed. But now that the year is coming to a close, we hope 2014 lived up to your expectations—it certainly was a great year here at Zazzle. Our resolution hasn’t changed since we opened our doors. It’s simple, really. We resolve to give you a platform to make anything you want, any time you want it. We resolve to put your imagination front and center, and to give you access to the world’s most creative minds. We resolve to help make 2015, your best year yet. Check out these simple ways to say, “Cheers to a New Year.”
1. Make Realistic Resolutions
New Year’s resolutions don’t have to be huge and impossible. Start small and give yourself deadlines and measurable goals. Resolve to have one vegetarian meal a week. Always dreamt of writing a novel? Resolve to write one chapter by the end of March. Write your goals—big and small—down and keep them close by. Make it a point to revisit them every few weeks to make sure you’re on track.
2. Get It Together
You say it every year, but this year, resolve to do something about it—and you don’t have to wait until 2015 to start. Whether it’s your office or your kitchen, prepare yourself for a clean slate in 2015 by arming yourself with the tools you need to stay organized. Hang a calendar in a spot you spend plenty of time in, whether it’s your home office, computer nook, the refrigerator or a home library. Circle important dates or mark them in different color markers.
Carry a planner with you—your phone is a great tool, but studies show that the act of writing things down helps you remember things more clearly.
And all those Pinterest recipes you keep meaning to try? Print them out and put them in their own binder.
3. Turn a Hobby Into a Business
If there’s a hobby you’ve been wanting to expand into more of a business, whether full-time or part-time, DO IT. Whether you’re a writer, artist, accountant, graphic designer, beer brewer extraordinaire, musician or consultant, make 2015 the year you take your hobby to the next level. Start small: Resolve to have your company name and logo by February. Get your website up and running by April. Secure at least five clients/gigs/sources of income by September. And so on and so on.
4. Throw a Party!
It’s not too late to plan your own New Year’s celebration. Nothing makes something more real than acknowledging it with a bonafide celebration. Gather your closest family and friends for a casual evening in or a cocktail party to remember. Ask everyone to bring a dish and set down to exchange resolutions and toast to great things to come.
