This month we’re featuring designer Kate Boyington of Kate Boyington Art! Her pastels and watercolors bring the beauty of her surroundings in Maine completely alive!
Tell us about yourself! Where is your hometown? Where do you live now? Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of design? Any fun facts about yourself?
Hi. I’m Katie, and I am a full time artist/illustrator from Bradley, Maine. I live life to the fullest with my two adorable kids, my dog and my husband by my side. At the end of the day, I come home and paint or do something else that inspired me that day.
Tell us about the space where you do your work. Do you have an official studio or have your carved out a nook in your home? Both are equally wonderful and we’re excited to learn more!
I have my own small studio right in my home.
What is your background in art and design? What got you started creating?
I am a self-taught artist. I have known my calling since I was a little girl, and it feels so good to say this is my full-time gig because it is what I have always wanted to be.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
I find inspiration in whatever gives me joy. Simple things like a summer afternoon spent beach combing or a trip to the city are incredibly inspirational to me.
When do you feel your most creative? Your least?
I can’t think of a moment when creative ideas aren’t flowing in my brain. I must have a zillion ideas floating around in my head all the time.
