Instagram Part 2: Best Practices for Your Instagram Account

By • 2 months ago with 2 replies already

Instagram is a great way to get your designs out there and to really connect with your customers. While creating an Instagram account can be easy, growing it can be a challenge.

Today, we’ll go over several tips to get you on the right track for starting and building your Instagram account.

1. Do I need a separate  Instagram account for my Zazzle store?

We can see both sides of the coin and here’s our rationale for both.

It’s not necessary to have a separate Instagram account for your Zazzle store. You can leverage the community you already have in your personal account and build your brand by incorporating more content related to your business.

However, having a separate account dedicated to your design business can be seen as more professional and ensures your audience is made up of people who are interested in seeing your designs. It also allows you to control how you market your designs and the strategy you use to grow your brand.

In addition, you can add a ‘contact’ button (email or call) to your Instagram business account. This makes it easy for your customers to get in touch.

Did you know that if you have more than one account, Instagram makes it easy to toggle back and forth between them? This means that you can seamlessly switch over from your personal Instagram account your business Instagram account without having to constantly log in and out.

2. What are some tips for making a Zazzle store Instagram account?

First things first! Make sure your username is the same or very close to your Zazzle store name. This keeps your branding consistent and makes it easier for your customers to find and follow you.

Next, use a nice headshot of yourself or your Zazzle store logo as your profile image. This keeps your branding the same across all of your accounts and helps your customers recognize you with ease.

Last but not least, make sure to include a link to your website or Zazzle store in your bio so people can easily get to your products. Don’t forget to mention that you have a clickable link to your Zazzle store in your profile when you create your Instagram posts!

3. How often should I post?

The Instagram algorithm rewards great content and consistency! Posting daily can help your posts reach a larger audience, as well as create more opportunities for your content to surface in the ‘Explore’ section for people who don’t follow you yet.

Make sure to use #ZazzleMade and other trending and popular hashtags to get noticed by others. Don’t use more than 30 hashtags or you may get dinged by the algorithm!

4. What should I post?

You should post photos of your Zazzle products and tag them #ZazzleMade. Beyond that, it’s important to think about what you want to be known for and create content to help support that narrative. For example, if you want to be known as a creative Zazzle Designer, show your design process, behind the scenes pictures of you creating, and shots of what inspires you and your designs. You could even mix in quotes that you find inspiring. Your Instagram should be a reflection of you and your brand.

  1. Short of buying every one of my creations, shooting them with my cell phone, and the uploading them to Instagram, how can I share my creations from my laptop to Instagram? I have an taken screenshots but that’s not the most ideal way. I feel like an idiot but I need to get much more visibility.

    1. Hi Joyce,

Great question! You can use the Link to This tool to get your product image and download it on your computer. There is no way to upload an image to Instagram directly from your laptop unless you download a third party app. I would recommend looking at reviews and comparing a few apps before choosing the one you want to go with.

      Hope this helps!
      Best,
      Elizabeth P.
