Tell us about yourself!
I was born in Kansas but have spent most of my life in the suburbs of New York. Besides illustration and design, I love baking and decorating cookies, jewelry making, hand lettering, photography, and everything crafty and artsy. I collect cute stuff and I am addicted to several subscription boxes like Hello Kitty, art supplies and stickers. 🙂
Tell us about the space where you do your work.
I do not have an official studio or desk. My workspace is usually at my dining room table with my laptop, pen tablet, sketchbook and a cup of coffee. I sometimes have a range of pens, markers, and pencils all over my table when I am sketching and drawing. I use an iPad too which I love because I can draw anywhere.
What is your background in art/design? What got you started creating?
I have loved drawing since I can remember. Growing up I always loved doodling and drawing cartoons. I have a BFA in visual arts / graphic design and have worked over fifteen years as a graphic designer. I worked at a couple of places where I had the opportunity to create super fun characters, illustrations and designs for a virtual world, animated emoticons, as well as creating cute logos, patterns, and graphics. And now I love having the creative freedom on Zazzle to bring my art and designs to so many different products.
Where do you find inspiration for your designs?
I draw my inspiration from everywhere, from online sites, cartoons, stickers, toys and so much more.
When do you feel you’re most creative? Your least?
I feel the most productive and creative late at night and I am the least creative first thing in the morning.
